Talking with Camilla Catlin about travel is like sitting down with that friend who has all the insider information on the latest, most fabulous destinations, but who also understands your travel needs before you even realize them. She specializes in uncovering under-the-radar places and authentic experiences that feel special, luxurious, and personal.

Camilla has had a lifelong love affair with travel as both a client and a consultant. She has visited 50+ countries (across all seven continents!), including Bhutan, Kenya, Russia, India, Brazil, and the Antarctic. After 14 years traveling the world as VP of Merchandising for Tiffany & Co. in New York, in 2011, she moved her young family to Paris where they spent weekends and holidays exploring and discovering the most special and authentic hotels, restaurants, and boutiques around Europe.

When Camilla returned to New York (however reluctantly), her friends were quick to seek her advice on all things travel. So in 2018, she launched Global Patina as The Local Foreigner’s first independent contractor. In 2019, Camilla won Travel and Leisure’s “Rising Star” award and has since been named to their “A-List Advisors'' list. She has also represented The Local Foreigner on scouting trips (she continues to go on 4-6 annually) and at the world’s most prestigious Luxury Travel conferences (ILTM Cannes, PURE, DUCO Italy, Virtuoso Travel Week). Over the past six years, Camilla has built up an extensive network across the industry and remains a go-to resource for fellow consultants and advisors.

Camilla works by referral only to ensure that her clients receive the utmost attention. Her discerning eye and taste enable clients to find the perfect fit for their travel needs, whether they are seeking under-the-radar hiking resorts in Bhutan, five-star luxury Parisian hotels, private yacht charters in the Mediterranean, Moroccan villa vacations, or cooking classes in Japan. She’s even been known to set up a traditional Nile sailing cruise for a family of 20 (including a 3-month old) and an 80th birthday on the Irish coast. In Camilla’s world, nothing is impossible. More importantly, though, Camilla is honest and opinionated about what makes a successful trip. It’s why her clients love her and return over and over for her manifold advice and expert planning.
