ITINERARY DESIGN & TRAVEL PLANNING

Global Patina’s mission is to deliver a premier personalized travel experience by providing thoughtful, caring service and a seamless planning process. We work with a limited number of clients and we base our recommendations on our own travel scouting and industry connections. Someone from the Global Patina / Local Foreigner team is always on the road scouting hotels, vetting guides, and cultivating relationships with suppliers around the world — all so we can curate trips precisely to our clients’ taste and travel style. 

Typically, Global Patina clients spend $50K+ per year on travel and budget at least $1,200 per person per travel day. This varies by destination, but as a loose guideline, we have a $30K trip minimum. Additionally, we ask for a planning lead-time of at least two months (longer for school holidays) and for many clients we plan 2-3 years in advance.  In order to deliver the best possible service and ensure a frictionless travel experience, we handle trips from start to finish, including the booking of all hotels, villas or yachts. We can also book business class commercial or private charter flights.

Global Patina is a luxury travel consultancy, and we charge professional fees for our services.  Our hourly rate is $150, and at the beginning of the trip planning process we take an upfront retainer of $1,800 or 12 hours.  Once this retainer is exhausted by accrued planning hours, we bill on a monthly basis and / or prior to departure.  If there is a remaining balance after the completion of services, it will be credited toward the client’s next trip.  

Relationships are everything in our business and Global Patina is a preferred partner of Virtuoso, Four Seasons, Belmond, Aman, Rosewood, Oetker, Silversea, Mandarin Oriental, Rocco Forte, Abercrombie & Kent, Auberge, St. Regis, Cheval Blanc, Six Senses and many other top luxury hotel and villa partners. We love booking top hotels and if you know where you want to stay, we will book on your behalf, ensure VIP treatment for your reservation, and throw in all the extra perks and amenities we can find. We waive our hourly fee for this booking service and our commission comes directly from our partners on the backend, so you never pay more by booking through us.

We are currently planning epic safaris to Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana, Rwanda & South Africa, expedition cruises to the Galapagos, Antarctica & Indonesia, and trips to Japan, Egypt, Patagonia, Bhutan, Iceland, Morocco, and Southeast Asia. We are also working on several villas and yachts in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean as well as rich itineraries for cities throughout Europe. Global Patina particularly enjoys the challenge of helping multi-gen family groups to uncover new experiences and destinations that everyone will love.
